21 April 2026 Updates: One consistent portal brand, more helpful error messages, and stronger privacy transparency

By Andrew McDowell

Visual styling changes and better messaging to site visitors

Today's release is a tidy-up day. Now that've we opened up our service to the UK, Martin, our UK business partner has called up some site changes to improve the experience and communication with visitors from this locale. As we have a really smooth workflow to make improvements on our production service sites, we made these changes today to compliment the refinements yesterday.

Here's what's changed.

One consistent brand across the portal

Until today, the customer portal at portal.bizsecure.online displayed an icon-only version of our Spartan helmet logo paired with separate text. Our marketing site at bizsecure.online uses a different mark, the full lockup with the helmet and the "BIZ SECURE ONLINE" wordmark together. Visiting both in the same session, you could feel the brand shift.

We've fixed that.

  • The full marketing lockup is now used across every portal page — the login page, the registration page, the forgotten-password and password-reset pages, the two-factor setup page, and the dashboard sidebar (and the mobile top bar on smaller screens).
  • The logo is now the same visual size as the marketing site48px tall on mobile, 80px tall on desktop — so the brand reads with the same weight everywhere you encounter it.
  • The logo is now clickable. On the login and registration pages it takes you straight to our marketing homepage in the same tab; on the dashboard it opens our marketing homepage in a new tab so your portal session isn't disturbed.

Small details, but the kind of thing your eye notices and your brain quietly registers as "this feels right".

Clearer error messages when you sign up

If you tried to register with an email address that was already in use, the portal would previously show a generic "Registration failed. Please try again." message. Not very helpful — you'd have no idea whether the email was the issue, your password, or something on our end.

  • Registration now shows the actual reason. If the email is already in use, you'll see "Email already registered". If your password is too short or you've missed a required checkbox, you'll see exactly what to fix. The generic fallback is now reserved for genuinely unexpected failures, where we'd want you to retry.

A small change for everyday users, but a big one for anyone trying to recover their existing account when they can't remember whether they signed up before.

Sharper copy on the registration page

The right-hand panel of the registration page lists three things you get with a Biz Secure Online account. The third bullet used to read "Email alerts when issues are found", accurate but vague.

  • The bullet now reads "Email notifications for reports and site down" — a more honest description of what we actually email about. We send you scan reports and we tell you when one of your sites goes down. We don't spam you with every minor finding.

Greater transparency on cookies and consent

Our Australian privacy policy at bizsecure.online/au/privacy didn't previously mention cookies. Our UK and EU privacy notices already covered them, but our Australian policy was silent, even though our cookie consent banner and detailed cookie policy page have been live for some time.

  • A new "Cookies and website analytics" section has been added to the Australian privacy policy. It names the tools we use (Google Analytics for visitor analytics, Cloudflare for security and performance), confirms that non-essential cookies are only set with your consent via our cookie banner, and links across to our full Cookie Policy where you can see exactly which cookies we use, what they do, and how long they last.
  • Our Scanning Consent agreement is now linked in the website footer, alongside our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Data Processing Agreement, Cookie Policy, and other legal documents. Until today this consent agreement could only be reached by starting the registration process. Now you can review what you'll be asked to agree to before you sign up, and revisit what you've already agreed to whenever you wish.

Both changes were prompted by direct feedback from our UK business partner — the principle is straightforward: anything you might want to read about how we operate should be easy to find, not hidden behind a sign-up flow.

Wrap-up

These releases aren't about new features. They're about removing the small frictions and inconsistencies that, taken together, would give us a less professional look. Every change today started with a partner, a customer, a teammate, saying "this could be clearer." We listened.

If you spot something that could be cleaner, we want to hear about it. Email us on support@bizsecure.online with your suggestion. Real feedback is always welcome.
